This week we had visitors from out of town. Yes, Erin (daughter) and Tad (sil) came from Hawaii for a short visit. They landed in Detroit on Friday, Aug 1st and then visited Tad's family in Ohio until Tuesday, then they drove to Noblesville to stay with Karissa and Josiah, then Wednesday night they came here. On Thursday, we drove around town and took photos (so Erin could show her friends in Hawaii what the midwest actually looks like), then we made our way to South Bend to have lunch with her former co-workers from the Tribune. We ate at the "Star of India" on Grape Road. I've only had Indian cuisine (I like that word!) one other time, and I have to tell you, this was much better than the first time around. When Erin said "Indian restaurant" I considered staying home, but, I knew I wanted to spend the day with them, so I decided that it was only one meal, so why not. I can't tell you what I ate, except something that looked like red skinless chicken, and a couple kinds of rice. One looked alot like fried rice from a Chinese place. I won't say that I would choose an Indian place for myself, but, I was full when I left.
When we got home, we went to the LaGrange Steam and Gas Show at the fairgrounds. Lot's of old tractors and stuff to look around at. Erin took lots of pictures there too.
On Friday, we had invited several friends and family to an "Open House" so the kids could see as many people as possible before heading home. So, Erin and I made food for the party, Tad helped too. Karissa and Josiah came, so we took a break and went to eat ice cream at our favorite place. Then we loaded up the car for the party location, The Brick House Inn.
It was a fun party. We got to entertain friends and family that we don't get to see alot. It was really fun to catch up. I've posted a few pictures of the night on our Flickr Page
Or, you may be able to see a few on Karissa & Josiah's Flickr
And in a few days, I'm sure Erin & Tad will post some of their trip.
Erin and Tad left after the party, they were staying with his sister in Toledo for the night, then they were flying back to Hawaii this morning.
Karissa and Josiah went back to Noblesville this afternoon.
Now it's deadly quiet in the house again.
Guess I'll head back to the sewing machine!

The red chicken was tandoori chicken, which is baked in a clay (tandoori) oven. The red comes from spices mixed with yogurt that marinate the meat. FYI. And I'm glad you went and tried it. :-)
