Lizzie B Creative Bag

I bought a new pattern by Lizzie B Creative while out visiting my daughter.

It's the Easy Breezy Backsack. This is just the cutest little bag. And while pretty easy to put together, I did break 3 needles getting the pocket on the way the instructions were written. I think I'll need to re-think that if I make another bag, which I really think I will do.
This is the bag, though it's not finished yet. I love these colors!

Placemats

It's been a good day to finish some of my "ufo's" (unfinished objects, better known as sewing projects!). I got the hot pad done, and then I finished the scalloped edged placements. I made 8, 4 with the lighter fabric as the center, and 4 just the opposite.



Next, I'm going to work on the Giant Postage Stamp Round Robin swap I entered. I've finished them all but one round. Hopefully, I can get them done tonight too! I have to stay caught up, because I entered a Fat Quarter Frenzy and a 9 patch swap in the quilting_in_indiana yahoo group. With taking a trip at the end of Apri, I don't want to fall behind!

Somehow, I think I've signed up for too many swaps!

Hot Pad

I finished my very first hot pad today!



This is for a hotpad swap, and I hope the swap partner likes it.

But.. I have to tell you what happened when I was making it.

I was zipping along, almost done with the binding, and the needle kept catching on something. I didn't have a pin in it, so I figured that the whole thing was so fat that the needle was not liking going thru all the layers. Well, all the sudden, the needle snapped, and the little piece that broke flew up and hit me in the face. Had it been a hair higher, it would have hit my glasses.. and if I hadn't had my glasses on, it would have gone in my eye.

Sewing Lessons

Friday I made the trip to Karissa's in Noblesville. She has a sewing machine, purchased from a yard sale, so she could learn to sew. We had a sewing lesson and did some shopping. She made a bag, it turned out pretty well. We also hemmed a piece of fabric for a table cloth.

Scallop Edge Placemat

I really enjoy taking a sewing/quilting class. Today I went to one that used a tool to make scalloped edges on placemats, table runners, or really whatever you were up to using it on.

I had signed up for the early evening class at the quilt shop, but, as it turned out, I was the only one signed up, so I ended up going in the late afternoon!

I can't really explain how we did it, but, this is the result. Of course, it's my very first try, so, please excuse the crinkly look of the mat.

At a stand still

I really want to sew something. I don't know what it is though. I have some really fun hawaiann fabrics left, I'd like to make into a purse, but, oh, that means I have to CUT it. And what if I don't like the purse when I'm done with it. Then the fabric is gone and I have nothing to show for it. Oh the dilemma. These are the 4 choices in question.

I think they would make a cute purse. But, does anyone have any other suggestions? They are fat quarters in size, but have lot's of potential as far as co-ordinating colors to compliment them. Leave your suggestions please! Thanks!
