I got a SILVER MEDAL in the Flickr Photo Challenge with this photo of a sail boat at Waikiki Beach. It's all very exciting.

New hobby

I love Flickr. I recently read a post on another quilter's blog about photo challenges on Flickr. Apparently you can enter your photos on a challenge, and people go in and vote. You can win little awards, like gold stars or something. It's all very exciting, people from all over the world looking at your photos and voting. So, of course, I love a challenge, so, I entered this photo of the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in the "Historical Places" category.

The voting lasts about 10-15 minutes. I got 2 votes out of about 10 I think. I did not win. I was sad for a minute, but, I know there will be more contests. And I will enter again.. and again.. I may even win one day.

Sewing Room Trolls

I bought a few fat quarters at Hancock Fabrics on Saturday. They were for swaps I had joined in a couple of yahoo groups. Those horrid little trolls came right into my sewing room and stole or hid them. I've cleaned the sewing room, and they are not anywhere to be found. Darn trolls.

Movies

I love going to the movies. But when I'm there, if I don't like it all I can think about is how I could be home sewing!

Anyway, here's a list of recent movies I've seen:

1. 10,000 B.C - very different, interesting, lot's of people with mud caked all over their bodies.

2. Elizabeth - The Golden Age - Loved the costumes! WOW! To live in the times that you put on those cool clothes! I liked this movie. It had a love story, some action, great scenery.

3. The Bucket List - Not as funny as they advertised. They had a good idea for a movie, but spent too much time on the "dying" parts.

4. Vantage Point - Action was good, it was a different way to film a show. I think there were 6 or more different points of view shown in the movie. Thus.."Vantage Point". Once they quit going back and showing the same thing, I enjoyed it.

Those are the most recent ones I went to see, except for Elizabeth, which was a rental.

Diets & Excersise update

First, I mentioned earlier, that I was addicted to french fries. I vowed to give them up and start walking on my eliptical to lose a few pounds before taking my trip to Jamaica. It's been a few weeks now, I've fallen off the "fry wagon" 2 times. I'm a little disappointed in myself, but, the last time I ate them, they didn't even taste good to me. I didn't eat them all. So, I still feel I'm making progress. As far as the eliptical goes, I'm up to 16 minutes. I'm lost about 3 pounds. Not enough. I'm going to have to give up more than fries!

Shopping Bags

On one of the yahoo groups I belong to we are swapping shopping bags. These are the bags I made. I hope the person I made them for will like them. This is the front of the bag.
And this is the back. I didn't put a lining in this one.


This one has a lining, and the "boxed" at the bottom. That's why the bottom looks like it is sagging I guess.

February 24, 1979

It was a snowy, icy day. My sister was stationed in Bermuda and flying home for the "big day". I didn't know if she would make it or not because of the ice. Since she was my only attendant, my maid of honor, my sister, it was a pretty big deal for her to be there. It was our wedding day. It's hard to believe that 29 years has gone by. We were but kids.. me 19, Mike was 24. I can almost hear the whispering, the wondering if our marriage would make it.

Belinda did make it home. We made it down the aisle, and yes, we are still together. Two kids, many pets, 3 homes, many vacations, thru the good times, the loss of parents, the addition of sons-in-laws we are still together.
